A basic digital scale tells you one number. A smart scale like the Fitelo claims to tell you more than 25, including body-fat percentage, muscle mass, visceral fat, bone mass and BMR. It syncs them to an app so you can see trends. At around the price of a basic scale, that's an easy sell. The more useful question is which of those numbers you should actually trust.

Great value for tracking trends, not a medical device replacement
As a weight scale with app-based trend tracking for the whole family, it's excellent value. Treat body-fat and muscle numbers as rough estimates for spotting trends over weeks, not exact measurements.
What we like
- Weight plus estimated body-composition metrics in one step
- Unlimited user profiles — the whole family can share one scale
- Bluetooth app sync for trend tracking (Android & iOS)
- Step-on auto start; batteries included
Keep in mind
- Body-fat and muscle numbers are estimates (true of every BIA scale)
- Not suitable for people with pacemakers or implanted electronics
- Medical/regulatory claims on the listing should be read carefully — see our review

How a smart scale “measures” body fat
The metal pads on the glass top send a very small, safe electrical signal through your feet. Fat, muscle and water conduct electricity differently, so the scale uses the resistance it measures, together with your age, height and sex from the app, to estimate body composition. Fitelo's listing describes this as dual-frequency BIA with four sensors.
That's why two readings an hour apart can differ. Drinking water, a workout or a big meal all change the result. Body weight is a direct measurement. Body-fat, muscle and visceral-fat figures are estimates.
How to get consistent readings
- Weigh yourself at the same time every day. First thing in the morning, after the bathroom and before eating, works best.
- Stand barefoot with dry feet on the metal pads.
- Keep the scale on a hard, flat floor, not a rug or uneven tiles.
- Judge progress by weekly averages in the app, not single days.
The app and family profiles
The scale syncs over Bluetooth to the Fitelo app (Android and iOS). According to the listing, it supports unlimited user profiles, so everyone at home can share one scale and keep separate histories. The listing also says premium app features, such as meal logs and step challenges, are included without an extra subscription. Check the app store page for current terms, because app features can change.
About the claims on the listing
The Amazon listing mentions “US FDA Approved” and an in-app AI assistant. We haven't independently verified the regulatory claim. Either way, regulatory status doesn't change how BIA works or its limits. We'd buy this scale for convenient weight and trend tracking, not for clinical-grade body-composition numbers.
Who should buy it?
- Buy it if you want a reliable family weighing scale with app-based trend tracking at a very low price.
- Buy it if you're starting a fitness routine and want motivation from seeing weekly trends.
- Skip the body-composition features if you have a pacemaker or implanted medical device.
- Don't rely on it if you need precise body-composition data for medical reasons. Ask your doctor about clinical tests.

Frequently asked questions
Are smart scale body-fat readings accurate?
Consumer BIA (bioelectrical impedance) scales estimate body composition. Readings change with hydration, meals, exercise and the time of day. They're useful for spotting trends if you weigh in the same way each day. They aren't a substitute for clinical methods like DEXA.
Who should not use a body-composition smart scale?
BIA scales send a small electrical current through the body. People with pacemakers or other implanted electronic medical devices should not use the body-composition feature. Pregnant women should check with their doctor first. Read the manual's safety section.
Is the Fitelo scale FDA approved?
The listing claims US FDA approval. We haven't independently verified this claim. Note that regulatory status doesn't change the basic limits of BIA estimates.
Can my whole family use one scale?
Yes. The listing says it supports unlimited user profiles in the Fitelo app, so each person gets their own history.
